A ROLE MODEL IN HAZARA UNIVERSITY
Hazara University
Academic Staff Association President Mr. Sultan, sitting with the campus
observer team consist of Waleed Gul and Rizwan Ahmed.
Family and
educational background:
I
opened my eyes in a political family. And my native town is “ALLAHI” which is
situated in district Batagram. I received my earlier education up to SSC from
there, afterwards I went to Abbottabad and done my intermediate. I completed my
bachelors from government post graduate college Mansehra, and completed my
masters from NIML Islamabad. I started my teaching career on March, 2003 as a
lecturer in Hazara University Mansehra.
Objectives of HUASA:
To
strive for the enhancement of academic freedom, to highlight the importance of
providing hygienic condition for working, to raise issues about work place
conditions, to secure the representation of teachers in decision making process
of unity, to look after matters concerning appointments on merit basis and to
work for the departments where faculty members can play pivotal role in order
to bring positive frame work towards their profession are the major primary
objectives of HUASA.
Process of election:
Yes there is a proper organism of
election where we announce the elections after the completion of 1 year tenure
by the executive council. We call nominations, receive papers from the desiring
candidates, after submission we finalize the list. Elections are conducted in a
democratic way.
Who conduct
elections?
There
are 268 members of general body and almost 18 members of executive council. As
mentioned in Hazara University constitution that elections to be conducted by the
executive council members of HUASA who have completed their 1 year tenure.
After the conduction of election executive
council chooses new cabinet.
Role of HUASA in
advancement of education:
As
per Hazara University act 1997, it is the primary obligation of all the faculty
members of university to facilitate and promote education. Being teacher it is
in our duty to disseminate knowledge and experience with the pillars of nation.
We the teacher can do this duty efficiently. Inside or outside the class room
our teachers are also performing their duty with ease, they are writing projects,
conducting research, participating in training and workshops, working on the
sites and generating revenue according to their own capacity as a group. HUASA
has been working from the past 2, 3 years to set up scholarships for the orphan
students as well as students having poor background. HUASA discussed what we
can do, and at last we decided to merge the generated fund with the scholarships
fund of Hazara University, so that we can also contribute in it. HUASA members
and other faculty members are going to contribute in it.
Problems and
challenges:
We
need to have working environment and all the facilities for the teachers and
researchers. Equipments in laboratory, proper sitting places, and internet
facilities are the basic needs and necessities of the current time. Faculty
members are also facing many problems like their promotions, appointment, file
processing delaying etc. teacher teaching in class room should have mental
satisfaction. So professional work related hurdles need to be rectified.
Role of education in Pakistan:
This is a fact that education
plays commanding role in almost every aspect of life. Yes education is
specific, playing important role in socio-economic development of the country
because today I am here as a teacher and contributing in education department.
New generation have to think about their future because there must be bigger
challenges than today. If we will not educate them so how can they tackle the
situation. In nutshell no body can deny education role.
Future of Hazara University:
A
shinning star, going to be one of the best university in Pakistan. When I
joined, there were only 11 faculty members and 164 students but today I assumed
to see that there are about 300 faculty members and more than 10,000 students.
About campus observer:
Honestly
speaking when I came to know about campus observer, I was very happy. I heard
statements about the objectives behind campus observer publication, but now I
am sure that it is the ideal platform to bridge communication gap along with
highlighting the optimistic aspects of Hazara University. You people are doing
great job.
Message for the reader:
For
students, well I am an idealistic kind of person. Whenever I go to class I say
guys you are here to spend your time, so take it, and always dream back, make
commitment, work hard. For what you are here, achieve it with courage if you
have firm believe in all mighty Allah and working hard no doubt you will
fulfill your persuasive goals. Today where we are sitting, in future we will
not be. You people have to take responsibility and prepare yourself for the
upcoming challenges.
